Durn. The children are actually expecting to be amused this spring break. The goddesses must take a holiday.
Did you know over three million American have epilepsy? Did you know that more Americans have epilepsy than MS and Parkinson's combined? Did you know that over thirty percent of people with seizure disorders continue to experience seizures even when they are on medication? Did you know that you have a one in ten chance of experiencing a seizure sometime during your life? While you're waiting, please enjoy the following pics from the National Walk for Epilepsy in Washington DC.
Did you know that people with epilepsy look just like you? They have dreams just like you. They have families just like you. They could be you.
If you've never seen your child lost in a seizure, count your blessings. If you have, you're in good company. So did the parents of Julius Caesar, Alexander the Great, Leonardo Di Vinci, Napoleon, Theodore Roosevelt, Agatha Christie, Sherman Alexie, Karen Armstrong, and Tony Coelho. I could go on, but the natives are restless. Actually, they're asleep. I'm the one who's restless.

One of my friends has epilepsy. She's amazing.
I can honestly say that I was unaware of any of these facts. So thank you for shining a light on epilepsy and its reach. Education and knowlege is power, Margaret.
Now go enjoy your Spring Break :)
Thanks that great post. And have a fun spring break.
Great post...enjoy your Spring Break!
Wow - I didn't realize that epilepsy was so common! I saw a boss of mine have a seizure once and it was SO scary. I'm glad to see that people are trying to educate others about it, because it is a very serious issue! Hopefully there will be a cure someday soon...
Is there a "cure" on the horizon?
Often the gifted or special talented among us are afflicted with some kind of challenging illness.
I heard of those facts. I hug you! You're a great woman and a great mother!
Yes! Thanks for spreading the word. I had many students with seizure disorders over the years
Did you know that you and your family are strong and beautiful? I didn't know these facts. Thank you.
Have a wonderful Easter break. All of you worked for it, by gum. And no, I didn't know any of those facts on epilepsy, but I do now and I won't forget.
That last photo is very sweet and I can imagine this experience has been self esteem enhancing for your daughter.
Interesting facts. I have two cousins with epilepsy (although neither is a genius like those you've listed) and I've has one seizure.
Compassion and empathy--great learning tools--great post-
I have known four people with epilepsy. One is a writer friend. One is Jim's sister. One I worked with a long time ago. And one was a student.
If they hadn't told me, I wouldn't have known.
No, I had no idea, Margaret ~ but I'm glad I do now ~ thank you. Have a blessed and happy holiday.
Great post, Margaret! I doubt that many people know much about epilepsy.
