Grateful for Mondays

Gratitude , The Tall Ships' Races, Szczecin 2007Image via WikipediaDeb at Paper Turtle, a blog I really enjoy because it showcases Deb's amazing crafts, foods, and style, has a gratitude thing going this November. Every time she posts something she ends by saying a few things she's grateful for.

In the season of Thanksgiving, I am wantonly stealing this. Except I'm just going to make the Fridays of this month gratitude days.

And today I am focusing my gratitude on...Mondays. I lot of people hate Mondays, but I love them because on Mondays my house is quiet. My husband (who is amazing) goes back to work. My children (who are fabulous) go back to school. And I am left alone. Well, almost alone. My dog is here, but she can't talk, and we are talky people, we Finnegans. We talk and whine and moan. But all the Finnegans, save me, take their talky ways somewhere else on Mondays, and I get down to work. I write, grade papers, walk. Lots of stuff. There is no music in the background. No TV. No Bluetooth crowding my ear. I am surrounded by my solitude, for which I am grateful.

I like this idea! Maybe I'll put it on my blog, too! Have a good weekend! :)

Jess: I kind of think we all should, but we must remember to give Deb all the credit.

Ah, I never thought I'd know someone else who LOVES Mondays like I do...and for basically the same reasons. My favorite day of the week. Grateful.

Love it. I love staring out the window of my empty home-no tv or radio. But sometimes plenty of gardeners.

Me, too. I love Mondays for the same reason. I'm not entirely sure what my solitude limit is, but I do know it helps me welcome the noise.

I love that kind of day, your Mondays. I think we all need a little solitude, to quietly hear our own thoughts and just be.

I probably love Mondays because I love the place I work in. More than my job! I have lot of fun and some very good friends at work (friends not colleagues!). Moreover I see Monday as a challenge! ;-)))
I love Deb's blog too!!!

Canadian Thanksgiving was last month, but I'm not ashamed to steal an idea late!

I love silence too Margaret. In our busy, noisy, raucus world, it is such a blessing.

I love Mondays, too. I usually don't have any commitments on Mondays.

My husband and I were just talking about how we love our home and love being together in it, but how nice it is as well when we can (each) have it to ourselves. Neither of us is a noisy person, but solitude is such a pleasure.

Aw! Thanks so much, Margaret, for your sweet words about my blog. It's totally cool with me that you borrowed "my idea" although I can't take full credit. Folks have been showing gratitude long before I did it on my blog. :o)

And BTW, I'm very grateful for blog friends like you who have been so supportive during this difficult time for my family and friends. Thank you, Margaret!

You've reminded me to dust off my Gratitude journal, Margaret. Thank you. Here's to those moments of solitude.

When you don't work a traditional job, weekdays are great. Or should I say they've become great again due to the failed economy. There is an upside to the real estate collapse. No more building. No more saws, hammers, shouts....just the gentle sound of leaf blowers and weed whackers

It's balance that makes so many things wonderful. The quietness of Monday needs the busy-ness of the weekend...and vice versa.

Now, that is a lovely Monday. So good to immerse in silence.
