Grateful for...butter

and sometimes I take pictures of butter with b...Image by Robert S. Donovan via Flickr
Thank you, Butter

Spread it on a piece of bread.
Bake it in a pie.
Eat it by the pound full.
Spread it right onto your thigh.

It gives the world a golden hue,
It makes things oh so creamy.
Sure, it clogs your arteries and stops your heart,
But nobody's perfect.

Stacey: This is for you.

I think real butter is better than plastic margarine! That's my theory, and I'm sticking to it! As my mother used to say: "Would you like some toast with your butter?" :-)

Perfect!
As I was reading, I was so excited you decided to write about butter, and then, for me? Ah, this blog world is fun.

I love butter. I figure anything that natural must be on the positive side of the ledger.

Butter is much better for you than margarine... margarine is the worst. And for sauteing...I use butter ghee...clarified butter, no milk fat...much better for you and a much higher burn point than oils...

But it would be much faster if I just slathered it on my thighs...

You're just plain funny. I started to giggle the minute I clicked on this.

You had me smiling at "Grateful for...butter" and cracking up at "spread it right onto your thigh." :o) LOVE this!!!

And to add to the butter vs. margarine discussion, I used to use only margarine because I thought it was better for you. Turns out it's full of all kinds of ingredients I can't pronounce. And I've discovered it's ok to leave butter out on the counter (as long as it's the salted kind) so we always have soft-spreadable butter on hand. I think I'll go make myself some toast now...

"Butter will melt"
another memorable quote from Gertrude Stein.

Speaking of which, the phrase "Butter wouldn't melt in her mouth," always puzzled me. And I think it's something they only ever said in books.
