Today, I met the novelist Michele Huneven at a writing networking group I belong to. She is so smart, so savvy that I had to go out and buy one of her books--even though I already had one sitting on my bedside table. She said that writers have to support each other; that means they have to buy each other's books. So, friends, when your book comes out, you just tell me. I'll be the first person in line to buy it.
I have a new story up at my favorite flash fiction website, Rose City Sisters. I hope you'll read it here, and I hope you'll submit your own!

On Fridays in November, I'm writing on what I'm grateful for. What are you grateful for these days?
Right now I'm grateful you share some of your stories here.
Ditto to Jean! I'm also grateful that peony season has just started here. And for family and friends, always. Happy weekend, Margaret. {And I loved your Thanksgiving piece.}
I'm grateful for the writing community as well. They're my people ... and I loved your flash too. Happy Friday to you.
I'm grateful for you, too!!
Isn't Michele Huneven terrific? I heard her speak at the Flintridge Bookstore about her latest book. I can't wait for her next book!!
Though I'm very big on being grateful, right now that's a tough question. I closed my eyes, and concentrated. At first, nothing. Then tidbits began trickling into my consciousness, and became a torrent: from the most mundane to the most ethereal, ending--like you--with the rewarding and happy surprises offered by my favorite blogs, including yours, which help me start and end my days. Thank you.
I'm grateful for your sharing of your stories - goddesses, humour, sensitivity, and, well, all the wonderful things you are.
Woof!
Re: Huneven -- now she's probably better known for her novel, but she writes wonderful essays as well.
The first year I lived here, I was rather at sea. Then I had a brainstorm one January day of 2009 to google local bloggers and see who was out there...and I ran across a certain bacon contest. And I was no longer so awash in my own little words/worlds.
I always read that blog, like I always read yours! You are a very inspiring writer... I love every single sentence you write! Keep on!
artist's too? I'm grateful for the support and friendship I've encountered through the blogging community
I like your gratitude posts, Margaret.
I'm grateful for my writing community as well. I was excited to meet Michelle Huneven and she didn't disappoint. Her novel, "Blame," is the best thing I've read in a year. I love the point she made about buying books (new, not used). I'll buy your books, too, Margaret.
I'm grateful for the blogging community, too. I'm regularly amazed at what it has brought me. Speaking of which: Linda, I will never forget the bacon contest. That was the most fun ever. Margaret, if you ever need a break you should just rerun those.
I don't know if I'll ever have a book, but I'll definitely buy yours! In fact, although I don't buy books often, I've recently purchased 2 books by friends. So it's weird that you brought this up.
I think being a writer is being a perpetual expatriate. I am grateufl for my expatriate community. We understand and forgive each other's moans and groans, while administering large doses of encouraging words. I am also grateful for encouraging words.
Thanks for visiting my place. I'm so glad you did, because you lured me to your wonderful writing.
I discovered Michelle Huneven's food reviews in the LA Weekly years ago and then her essays. Hiker is right: they're wonderful. I'll definitely buy her book.
I love that you are doing your Friday gratitude posts, Margaret, and this one really hits home for me. I've loved your writing style from day one, and I feel the same way you do - that I am a better writer because of women like you, not to mention a little more grounded by way of feedback. I'll definitely check out your story...thanks for the link! xo
The only Michelle Huneven I'm familiar with is the one who hangs out at cafes, like over at my hangout EuroPane.
