Shoes

I'm going to be honest with you.  I'm feeling a little exhausted lately. I think all the adrenaline from The Goddess Lounge book launch is sputtering out.

So, of course, I bought shoes.

Pretty cool, huh?  They are Dansko's and, since we're being honest, I'm just going to go right out and say it: They were not on sale.

I know what you're thinking: "Oh, that fancy pants Margaret with her expensive not-on-sale shoes.  One novel and she thinks she's Imelda Marcos."

Yeah. I get that, but here's what I say.  "I am on my feet often!  I teach on my feet.  I walk on my feet.  Even when I'm sitting, I am often swiveling around my ankle (per PA's video below), which is connected to my foot."

To which you are thinking, "Oh, that fancy pants Margaret.  I bet she is going to say she writes on her feet."

Actually, sometimes I do.  It has to do with my hip, but be that as it may, I also think you should know that I will probably have these shoes for, like, five years.  Really. Despite what you are thinking, I am really not that big of a shopper.  So you could say the shoes were a GOOD INVESTMENT.

"Investment!  HA!" You are saying. "You just wanted those shoes, and frankly, with those speckly looking things they do not even look practical."

I know!  All right!  I know!  I just wanted them so much and I hardly ever do anything nice for myself.  So just leave me alone!

Aren't Danko's the gateway shoe to orthopedics?

I say you deserve them. Even if you hadn't just written a future award-winning book. We all need a treat now and then, and these are an excellent choice!

You're too funny --

BTW, great shoes. I would have bought them, too.

I love them. I wonder if I could wear Danskos. I'm already in the orthopedics, have been since my thirties.

Now go get a massage.

You DESERVE the splurge!

I am glad most of you approve. PA, I feel that you are speaking ill of my shoes. You have sort of hurt their feelings. They are sensitive, you know.

Remind me a little of Dorothy's silver slippers (ruby in the movie).

Use them in good health.

I think 5 years is a conservative estimate with dansko.

You and your feet deserve new shoes, even at full price!

You deserve those shoes! After years of hobbling about in high heels, I have super messed up feet and I'll never wear cheap shoes again!

Tell your tootsies to get over it. I'm just jealous I can't pay full price. My Danko's were purchased at "Out of the Closet" across the street from Lucia's. 5 bucks. And I wore them at your reading but I don't recall you saying a thing. My Danko's are peeved!

They're perfect!!! What's not to like? I'm at the verge of transitioning to "sensible shoes"...more to the point, flip flops aggravate my arthritis, heels throw my back out of whack and hurt my knee...just try finding cute sensible shoes in giant size...

Enjoy them!!!
