You're probably asking yourself: now that Margaret Finnegan is basically synonymous with J.K. Rowling in so far as they are both FAMOUS-and-RICH-BEYOND-BELIEF NOVELISTS, what does she do with her time.
Wonder no more! I will reveal all!
Usually, the day begins with me COUNTING MY BLESSINGS while driving my verbally-gifted children to their destinations, and by verbally gifted, of course, I mean that they are gifted at recounting the various ways in which life--and each other--has tread upon them with great injustice. I usually take my twelve year old Honda because, naturally, the Ferrari is in the shop. It is so temperamental!
Next, I generally schmooze with very important and illustrious people, or at least my dog, Scout.
Then I write because you can't be a writer if you don't write, and I do like to keep up with the African royalty that are always tracking me down because of my great sympathy and compassion.
Eventually, the verbally-gifted children return, and they impress me with more of their verbal gifts. Then it's the usual: dinner, clean up (we decided to let the maid/cook go because I thought it would be cruel to impose my elite rich lady values on others), a little TV, and then sleep. See? Even now that my amazing literary gifts have paved my way to grandiosity, I'm not so different from anyone else.
But, sometimes, I do get to do something special. Here I am reading to book club I was invited to visit in beautiful Santa Barbara. They choose The Goddess Lounge as their book selection, and were kind enough to invite me to join in their discussion of the book. What a fun time, and what fun women. Don't you wish you were me?
