More Bacon Madness

Recent gifts I have received. Things better to know about than to try. Trust me.

Back from the dark side.....

I see the gum ball container is still in it's wrapper. Are you saving it for a special moment?

Kate said...

Hey, don't knock bacon mints. I bet they'd be very useful if you were trying to seduce a dog.

Also, thank you for my goddess of the week :)

Speaking of gifts, Kate and I were at Borders just today and spotted something for you and Elizabeth that we couldn't resist! Pride and Prejudice and Zombies. From the back cover, "It is a truth universally acknowledged that a zombie in possission of brains must be in want of more brains." So begins Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, and expanded edition of the beloved Jane Austen novel featuring all-new scenes of bone-lcrunching zombie mayhem.

Lynne, I actually have that book. Started reading it, but then I got sidetracked. Thanks for reminding me.

PS. Bacon ice cream.

Margaret said...

PA: Oh yes. I am saving the gum for a very special moment.

Kate: I think the mints would work very well with dogs. And you're welcome.

Lynne: You are sweet, but, of course, we have that book. I got it at the airport. Very funny.

Vanda: We must exchange notes when you're done. Bacon ice cream. I beg you, no.

Have you tried these treats? I'm actually curious. Bacony fresh breath?

Jean Spitzer said...

Pride and Prejudice and Zombies sounds promising, in its own goofy way. I'll have to look for it.

Margaret said...

Jean: I tried the bacon mints. It is just what it says: Miny-bacon flavor. Not so good, actually.

You've discovered the Visual! What have I started?!

Ok, just don't tell me you don't eat pork.

Shell Sherree said...

Well goodness me, what were they thinking?! Isn't apple the thing to put with pork? Maybe that's on its way. Sparkling Apple Pork Cider.

Desiree said...

I really really want to know:
were any pigs harmed for these products?

Susan C said...

I like Kate's comment about seducing dogs.

Kate never met my dogs. No bacon mints required.

Margaret said...

Shell: I think you've topped us with the cider. What could be worse?

Dez: No actual bigs were harmed in the making of these products. So they're Kosher too!

Susan: Yes, the dog lovers unite on this one.

AH: Funny enough, she has met me dog, who is equally easy.

Wow . . . I'm not sure bacon ice cream will ever be featured on my blog. But, have you tried the Vosges chocolate bars with bacon?

Shawna said...

Are they both minty and bacony? I am so curious now. Or are they after-bacon mints?

Shawna's Study Abroad

Margaret said...

Bec: No, I haven't tried that. Should I be afraid?

Shawna: How curious? They're yours if you want them.

Late! I'm late. Yet so glad I didn't taste them. The look on your face was priceless. I think even a dog might refuse bacon mint advances. Just give pooch a potato chip and he's yours.

I am sorry, but I am sad for the pigs. They are more intelligent than dogs. My friend, who lives in a rural town in Australia, tells me that when the trucks carrying pigs stop near them, the pigs 'cry'. If we only knew, or did a little research. I think that we would all be vegetarians.

For example, the live-sheep trade from Australia announced this week that only 0.84% of animals had died en-route overseas while caged on the ship transports. That is 35,000 animals only.

Better that we know not what we do.

Mary and Sean said...

Are you seriously not going to try those mints? Send them to me... I'm in a "new experience" state of mind these days!

Actually, I think unusual bacon parings are all the rage now. I recently tried Vosges chocolate and bacon bar... sounds weird, but surprisingly tasty.

I just stumbled upon your blog and had to share a couple of my favorite bacon novelties with a fellow connoisseur!

Not your average doughnut shop, Voodoo Doughnut in Portland, Oregon, features a Bacon Maple Bar. Breakfast for dessert!
http://voodoodoughnut.com/menu.php

And last but not least, Chocolate-Covered Bacon! (recipe on yumsugar.com) Slightly reminiscent texture of toffee in chocolate, but with that delicious bacon finish.

Hope you enjoy!

I think I can probably win some bets with these little treats.

Does everything really taste better with bacon? Wanna bet? ;)

so funny and cute

Sarah Anne said...

Okay. That's weird.

Alison said...

YES! bacon! so glad to see other fans of bacon!

BTW, love your blog!

Leona said...

Bacon mints seem weird (but funny)... is it minty freshness with a tint of bacon? Or is it just going to make your mouth smell like you just had bacon? Nonetheless, I'd like to buy them as a hoax for my friends! Where were these bacon mints purchased? ...please don't tell me Urban Outfitters...

Margaret said...

Leona: I can't say for sure because they were a gift, but I think my friend got them at a Hallmark store of all places. Good luck finding them, and thanks for dropping by.

Webster's in Altadena. In the drug store section, believe it or not.
