Wise Women Friday: Zora Neale Hurston

German Spaßvogel, wood carving c.Image via Wikipedia

Words of wisdom from the American writer Zora Neale Hurston (1903-1960):

Silence is all the
genius a fool has.

But that's never stopped me!

This is my week:

1. Arrived at school registration wearing a jean skirt with back zipper. Learned that was prancing around with open zipper from a mother and her sixth grade son, who was giggling like a two-year-old and whose face had gone tomato red. Must have been the granny panties.
2. Pulled out of a too-small parking space and whacked my driver-side mirror against a post. Ka-Ching! (That'll be $300, please.)
3. Left wet laundry in washer for three days in one-hundred degree heat.
4. Bought "Smooth Legs," with Micro Crystal technology!

Okay, genius, I'll play. How's that gadget work on the upper lip?

And is there something wrong with cotton granny bloomers? they come in colors ya know

A little tip...before you purchase any "as seen on TV" products, go to you tube to get a review. It's saved me some heartache

Ouch. Hope next week is better.

Don't you just love the smell of mildew in your washing machine?

For some reason #4 really made me laugh. Why?

Ooh, it must have been a bad week to fall prey to infomercials, or wherever the heck that hair remover device is sold.

Looking forward to the update on it efficacy.

Confession: Oops! I pulled the laundry in the machine trick this week too.

What a week! I'm guessing you felt guilty that an impressionable sixth grader copped a flash of your knickers. It's ok ~ surely he's seen them at home? {And surely there's no way on God's good earth that scrubbing your hair off can be painless? I hope you'll provide us with your critique.}

Oh, we've all been there, sister! And whoever says they weren't is lying....

You forgot to mention: Spent the afternoon with your niece the day before she went to live in the dorms for the first time, telling her about the fun she'll have. And, gave her your beloved housewife tarot cards to entertain her new roommates. Thanks a million times. It was wonderful.

Thank God your good sister is here to fill in all the blanks you forgot, or didn't know about.

Hope you are having a great weekend to make up for your unfortunate week.
Hope next week is better.

Well, at least all those mildewy clothes were already in the washer.

I've done all of those things, not necessarily in one week though.. ow!

I assume from its inclusion on your week's disaster list that Smooth Legs was a big fat disappointment. Thanks for the warning. I do like my ped egg, but that's about the only thing I ever bought that lived up to the infomercial.

I'm feeling generalized guilt that you had such a craptastic week. According to your previous post, that's a good thing. For me.

Still, I'm sorry.

And is there any reason why my word verification is "farties"?

Thanks, all. This week can only be better, especially since the youngins are off to school. As for the smooth legs: It seemed to work better for my 13 year old, who tried them on her virgin hair legs, but not so good on leg stubble. Also, it just takes a long time, and, also I think it gave me a rash, but it's fricking 102 degrees outside so that could have been anything.

Petrea: As for the upper lip, it says not to use on your face, but then it comes with these wee little micro crystal pads that are for your face.

Olga:I'm intrigued about the ped egg. What is that?

Lynne: thanks for reminding me that me week was not all moldy laundry and unzipped skirts.

I'm so darn hot now. All I want to do is complain and watch TV.

Petrea said...

Margaret, I hope the complaining and TV is making you feel better.

Linda, you made me laugh.

Very nice quote, Margaret.
I don't follow it but I think I have :) Have a sweet and interesting week.

Regarding number two, hitting the car mirror on the post... I thought I was the only one that did things like that. Glad to know that I'm in good company!
